Boys Bathroom

I redid the boys bathroom upstairs using shiplap panelling and reframing the builder grade mirror for a relatively easy DIY. The first step was to cut the shiplap panelling to size. I then installed cove molding above the baseboards (similar to how I did in Briar's room) so the shiplap doesn't have an overhang. The most difficult part of the panelling was installing it behing the toilet. I consulted my brother and he said it should be relatively easy to unscrew the water valve, well it wasn't. Our builder put silicone putty over the valve which was impossible to cut and remove, so I said screw it. I measured a million times the exact area where the water valve was and marked it on my panelling and cut a hole out with my jigsaw. I then cut a straight line from the hole to the top of the panel so the panel could just slide in and to my surprise it worked! I installed 1x3's and 1x2's to the top of the panelling.

Now it was onto the mirror. I hate builder grade mirrors. I've replaced all my mirrors in our house myself with ones from Target or Amazon; it's such an easy way to elevate your bathroom. The mirror in the boys bathroom is big and I was scared to remove it myself so I decided just to frame it out. I used PVC flat moulding and mitered the corners to fit, I then spray painted all sides black. I glued the pieces directly to the mirror with liquid nails and let it sit to dry.

Once that was finished, I changed my first ever light fixture, yay! Again, got a new one from Amazon and was so easy. I had a little trouble making sure all the bulbs were lit at the same time but I didn't get electrocuted and to this day it hasn't needed any adjustments. I then painted the shiplap Evergreen Fog by SW and we were done :).
